Holiday Rollout: First Dice Samples Are Here!
The best part of creating games has to be when something you've only imagined in your head suddenly becomes real. Today, that moment happened for Holiday Rollout as the first-ever set of dice samples arrived fresh from China, and wow—do they look amazing! Just look at that burst of color! It's like the holidays exploded all over the desk, and Sonya couldn’t be happier.
These dice aren't just pieces of plastic, they're the heart of the game. Each face represents the chaos and cheer of the holiday season, wrapped up in brightly colored symbols: lightning bolts for weather, music notes for festive tunes, hourglass for time spent living in the moments, and so much more. Every roll is a step closer to throwing the ultimate holiday party, and now that these beauties are in my hands, I can’t wait to see how they feel during playtesting.
Of course, like any first sample, they’ll need a close inspection. Are the symbols clear and balanced? Do the colors pop as much in real life as they did in the design drafts? Will they roll fairly? (No one likes a cheater’s die) That’s all part of the fun of this stage—taking these fresh samples and seeing if they live up to the dream. So far, I’m beyond excited by how they turned out.
Holiday Rollout is starting to come together, and it's moments like this that remind me why I love creating games. From concept to completion, it's a journey full of excitement, creativity, and a little bit of chaos, just like the holidays themselves!
Stay tuned for more updates on Holiday Rollout as we dive into playtesting, tweaking, and getting everything just right. Soon, you’ll be rolling these dice in your hands too!
PS, Sonya hope the dice didn’t mess with your next post @Rolls and Relics.
